What’s causing your car’s AC issues?
There’s never a good time for part of your car to malfunction. But summer is definitely the worst time for your car’s air conditioning to stop working properly.
If that happens to you, it’s important to recognize the issue and get it taken care of as soon as you can. Do you know some of the signs that your vehicle’s air conditioning system needs to be fixed?
1. It’s blowing warm air. If warm air is the only thing coming out the vents, it’s possible that your car is running low on refrigerant. This issue might require tightening a connection or replacing a hose. Old cabin air filters can become clogged, so it’s also possible that your car’s filter needs to be swapped out. If the air pressure is poor, there may be a leak somewhere in your AC system.
2. No air is blowing. What if your AC fails to work at all? A few different issues could be the culprit. The compressor, which helps circulate refrigerant through the system, may need to be replaced. Or maybe the AC condenser (a type of radiator) may need to be replaced. It is also possible that your car is experiencing an electrical issue that’s affecting the air conditioning.
3. Your AC blows an odorous air. If the air coming from your vents is making your car smell bad, it may be due to condensation. When it gets trapped in your car’s heating and cooling system, it can lead to mold and bacteria growth. You can fix the resulting smell by cleaning your car’s plenum intake ventwith disinfectant.
